Description:

The Regional Business Manager will be responsible for achieving product and category sales goals within a multi-state area for a set of key accounts.  The account responsibility will be primarily with the retail channel with some attention on the non-retail channels to include mass, drug, dollar, private label, export and club store business.  This position will manage the activities and performance of broker partners to execute sales and merchandising programs which meet and/or exceed designated sales volume, profits, merchandising activity, distribution and shelf management objectives while operating within the approved budget and established policy guidelines.  Major brands include Mazola, Karo, Argo, Golden Griddle, Fleishmann’s, and Patak’s.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Achieves volume, spending, distribution and profit goals for assigned region/accounts.

Performs thorough research and analysis of each business element to include:  geographical market and account sales history; current product line and promotional events; competition and competitive activity; consumer buying trends; syndicated marketing data; financial and personnel resources.

Establishment of sales and marketing programs within areas of responsibility.

Facilitation of communications between accounts and corporate marketing and headquarters as required.

Implementation of the business unit policies and strategies at the account/region level.

Employs internal and external resources to produce effective long-term Broker and Account Management relations.

Working with assigned Broker partners, establishes account specific goals and ensures thorough account penetration to key decision makers to secure optimum product authorizations and preferred supplier status while achieving optimal distribution, pricing, volume, profit, merchandising, shelf management, operations and logistic initiatives, goals and objectives.

Provides direction and leadership in assisting Broker partners to define individual goals and objectives which correlate to established district business and sales objectives.

Accepts primary responsibility for directing and managing Broker partners in achieving their goals and objectives.

Employs coaching and counseling techniques as required to reconcile sub-standard performance, and if necessary, enforces approved disciplinary action according to policy guidelines and Broker contract.

Education / Experience / Skill / Competence Requirements

Education:

BS/BA degree in Business or related field or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Experience:

7-10 years experience in sales/account management, with at least 2 years in a position of comparable scope and responsibility within the consumer products industry.  At least 5 years of broker management experience, preferably with ASM.
