Job Purpose

This position coordinates the procurement cycle of packaging supplies and ingredients for the facility to ensure proper stock levels.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops and maintains safety stock levels for purchased items.
  2. Monitors inventory levels and purchase raw materials and packaging supplies as required.
  3. Maintains records and details on obsolescence and disposition of outdated or aged stock.  Coordinates Materials Disposition process.
  4. Identifies and resolves potential purchasing problems; follows up to ensure timely and accurate product delivery.
  5. Acts as plant liaison with vendors on open GRIR issues at the plant (both quantity & pricing).
  6. Works with Inventory Coordinator, accounting, and warehouse personnel to maintain inventory accuracy.
  7. Researches in-house stock for production schedule changes and interacts with suppliers and/or Planner for adjustments to ACH or supplier production schedules – impact priorities.
  8. Functions as plant go-to for vendor credit requests, coordinates rejected product back to vendors, and initiates any necessary follow-up to internal or external customers
  9. Coordinates with Production, Planning, and Accounting on all BOM changes to avoid inventory transactional errors and unnecessary inventory adjustments.  Initiates BOM change process.
  10. Provides coverage as needed for production scheduler.
  11. Other work-related duties as assigned. Must have strong analytical and problem solving abilities to accommodate a quick paced environment (a quick thinker).

 

Education / Experience / Skill / Competence Requirements

Education: High school diploma required.  College Degree (BS or BA) preferred

Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a manufacturing environment.

Skill/Competence:

  1. Oral and written communication skills, proven organizational skills for compiling, accumulating, and utilizing information, strong social skills to work with internal and external customers are all required.
  2.  Strong mathematical skills to help with determining inventory requirements, ability to follow direction, and problem solving abilities are required as well.
  3. Cost consciousness, strategic and forward thinking are also required.
  4. Must have strong analytical and problem solving abilities to accommodate a quick paced environment (a quick thinker).

Equipment/Software:

Computer literacy along with hands on ability with various computerized buying, planning, and/or inventory systems is highly recommended.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products.  SAP experience is also preferred.
